ASUS ROG NUC is a discrete-GPU mini tower/NUC hybrid: Core Ultra 9 + RTX 4070 laptop GPU with serviceable DDR5 SO-DIMMs. Editorial angle flips vs APU mini-PCs — you are buying host RAM for multitasking, not feeding an iGPU bus.
Clearance / form factor: Memory under a multi-heatpipe shroud — low-profile DDR5 SO-DIMMs required. Expect a longer teardown (side panels + fan plate) than Beelink bottom service.
Tuning notes: Leave NVIDIA control panel on the discrete GPU for games. System RAM upgrades help CPU/RTX host memory and creator heaps; they do not increase the 8GB GDDR6 on the 4070 laptop GPU. Dual-channel still helps 1% lows and background multitasking.
