How the RAM Finder Works

1

Device & Platform

Choose your device type and age (Guide Me) or exact CPU socket (I Know My Specs). The finder filters to only compatible RAM.

2

Use Case

Gaming, office, content creation, server, or best deals. Each use case applies the right speed, capacity, and ECC filters automatically.

3

RAM Slots

Tell us how many slots your system has. We recommend the right kit config — single stick, dual-channel pair, or quad-channel set.

4

Capacity

Pick your target capacity or let us recommend based on your use case. We also detect your current RAM to suggest the right upgrade.

5

Budget

Set your budget with the slider or presets. Results rank by deal score — a composite of $/GB, ratings, and real buyer reviews.

💡 Always enable XMP / EXPO

RAM ships at base JEDEC speed. Enable Intel XMP or AMD EXPO in BIOS to reach the advertised speed on the box.

✅ Buy matched kits

Always buy a matched 2-stick or 4-stick kit from one manufacturer. Mixing brands or speeds causes instability.

⚠️ Check your QVL

Your motherboard's Qualified Vendor List guarantees compatibility. Find it on the manufacturer's support page.

RAM Buying FAQ

How do I know what RAM is compatible with my system?

The key factors are your CPU socket and motherboard. Intel LGA1700 (12th–14th gen) supports DDR4 or DDR5 depending on the board. AMD AM5 (Ryzen 7000/9000) requires DDR5. AMD AM4 (Ryzen 1000–5000) uses DDR4 only. Laptops use SO-DIMM modules — check your laptop manual for DDR generation. Our RAM Finder filters by platform automatically.

How much RAM do I need for gaming in 2026?

32GB is the recommended amount for gaming in 2026. While most games use 8–16GB directly, running Discord, a browser, and streaming software simultaneously can push usage past 16GB. 32GB eliminates memory as a bottleneck entirely and future-proofs your build for 3–5 years.

Should I buy DDR4 or DDR5 RAM?

For new builds on Intel 12th gen+ or AMD AM5, DDR5 is the right choice — it is now close in price to DDR4 and offers higher bandwidth. For existing DDR4 platforms (Intel LGA1200, AMD AM4), stick with DDR4 since upgrading would require a new CPU and motherboard too. Our finder automatically shows the correct type for your platform.

What is the best RAM speed for AMD Ryzen?

For AMD AM5 (Ryzen 7000/9000), DDR5-6000 CL30 is the sweet spot. It aligns with the Infinity Fabric 1:1 ratio, giving the best balance of bandwidth and latency. For AM4 (Ryzen 1000–5000), DDR4-3600 CL16 is optimal. Going faster than these sweet spots offers diminishing returns.

What RAM speed is best for Intel?

For Intel 12th–14th gen (LGA1700), DDR5-5600 to DDR5-6000 is the sweet spot on DDR5 boards. On DDR4 boards, DDR4-3200 to DDR4-3600 is ideal. For Intel Core Ultra 200S (LGA1851), DDR5-5600 to DDR5-6400 is recommended.

Is 16GB of RAM enough in 2026?

16GB is the minimum for a comfortable experience in 2026. It handles web browsing, office work, and light gaming well. However, modern AAA games, content creation, and running multiple applications simultaneously benefit significantly from 32GB. If your budget allows, 32GB is the better long-term investment.

What does price per GB mean and why does it matter?

Price per GB ($/GB) is the total kit price divided by total capacity. It is the most objective way to compare RAM value across different kit sizes. A 32GB kit at $60 ($1.88/GB) is better value than a 16GB kit at $35 ($2.19/GB), even though the 16GB kit costs less upfront. Our finder sorts results by deal score which factors in $/GB, ratings, and reviews.

Can I mix different RAM brands or speeds?

Technically yes, but it is not recommended. Mixing speeds forces all modules to run at the slowest speed. Mixing brands can cause stability issues. For best results, buy a matched kit (e.g., 2×16GB) from the same manufacturer. If you must mix, ensure both sticks use the same DDR generation and similar speeds.
