Frequently Asked Questions

Is the G.SKILL 48GB (2x24) 6000 MHz DDR5 compatible with my motherboard?

This module is compatible with Intel 12th / 13th / 14th Gen (LGA1700), Intel Core Ultra 200S (LGA1851 / Arrow Lake), AMD Ryzen 7000 / 8000 / 9000 (AM5), AMD Threadripper 7000 (TRX50). Always verify with your motherboard's QVL (Qualified Vendor List) before purchasing, as compatibility can vary by board revision.

Is this DDR5 module a good deal right now?

Price is near its tracked high of $719.99 โ€” in the top 25% of its recorded range. Prices may fall. At $719.99 ($15.00/GB), consider waiting for a dip or compare cheaper alternatives below. Prices are updated daily from Amazon.

What is 6000 MHz RAM used for?

DDR5 RAM is required for AMD AM5 (Ryzen 7000/9000) and Intel LGA1851 (Core Ultra 200S) platforms. It offers higher bandwidth than DDR4, making it beneficial for content creation, gaming on modern platforms, and AI workloads. 6000 MHz is the sweet spot for AMD AM5 โ€” it aligns with the Infinity Fabric 1:1 ratio.

How does G.SKILL RAM compare to other brands?

G.SKILL has 242 modules tracked with an average customer rating of 4.6โ˜…. This specific module is 6% below the 48GB (2x24) DDR5 peer median $/GB. Browse all G.SKILL modules or use the comparison tool to see how it stacks up against Corsair, G.Skill, Kingston, and Crucial.

Is 48GB of RAM enough for gaming in 2026?

48GB is more than enough for gaming in 2026. Most AAA titles use 16โ€“24GB alongside Discord and a browser. 48GB gives you headroom for streaming, recording, and running multiple applications simultaneously.

Is a 2ร—24GB kit better than a single stick?

This is already a 2ร—24GB kit (dual-channel capable) โ€” the correct configuration for maximum bandwidth on supported platforms. Matched multi-stick kits use multiple memory channels simultaneously, improving real-world performance versus a single stick of the same total capacity.

Compatibility & buying details

Use cases, platforms, motherboard notes, upgrade math, and analyst notes

Is This RAM Right for You?

Based on 48GB (2x24) DDR5 DIMM specifications.

Gamingโœ“ Ideal

48GB eliminates memory as a bottleneck for AAA titles and multitasking

Office / Schoolโœ“ Ideal

48GB handles office apps, video calls, and multiple browser tabs comfortably

Content Creationโœ• Not suited

48GB is insufficient for video editing or 3D rendering workloads

Server / NASโœ• Not suited

Non-ECC RAM is not recommended for servers or NAS โ€” silent data corruption risk without error correction

Laptop Upgradeโœ• Not suited

This is a desktop DIMM โ€” laptop upgrades require SO-DIMM modules. See Laptop RAM Prices for compatible options.

Verdicts based on capacity, form factor, and ECC specifications โ€” not editorial opinion. Capacity recommendations reflect 2026 software requirements.

Slow JEDEC Baseline (Not Recommended)

Validated by C.R. Vinoth Kumar ยท Founder & Senior Editor

This kit runs at loose JEDEC default timings (CL40 or slower). CL40/CL48 speeds indicate lower-binned DRAM chips which create a severe latency bottleneck, reducing CPU frame pacing and game performance by up to 10-15% compared to optimized kits.

XMP 3.0 / EXPO Profile Activation Required

This is a high-performance DDR5-6000 memory kit. It will NOT run at advertised speeds out of the box.

JEDEC Fallback Behavior

By default, all motherboards boot using safe JEDEC standards (typically 4800MT/s). If you plug this RAM in and boot immediately, your system will downclock to this baseline, losing up to 10% - 20% CPU bandwidth.

How to Enable XMP/EXPO

  1. 1.Reboot PC, tap Del or F2 to enter BIOS.
  2. 2.Find memory settings and toggle XMP / EXPO to Enabled.
  3. 3.Save & Exit (press F10). PC will reboot at 6000 MHz.
Platform compatibility warning: On AMD AM5 (DDR5 Ryzen 7000/9000), target EXPO kits for maximum stability. On Intel platforms, prioritize XMP kits. Both profiles work, but choosing native profiles optimizes memory training timings.
