HyperX was Kingston's dedicated gaming memory brand from 2002 until 2021, when Kingston rebranded the memory line as FURY. HyperX-branded modules are still sold and remain popular, particularly for DDR4 and laptop SO-DIMM.
What they're known for: HyperX Fury DDR4 desktop modules and HyperX Impact SO-DIMM for laptops are the two main remaining product lines. Both are well-validated, widely available, and often priced below the newer FURY equivalents as older stock clears.
Best for
Buy HyperX if you find a good deal on DDR4 desktop or laptop SO-DIMM modules. HyperX Impact is one of the most widely validated laptop SO-DIMM lines available. For DDR5 or new builds, choose Kingston FURY instead.
Limitations
HyperX is a legacy brand — no new DDR5 products are being released under the HyperX name. If you need DDR5, Kingston FURY is the current line. Availability will decrease over time as stock depletes.
Bottom Line
The legacy Kingston gaming brand — still solid for DDR4 and laptop SO-DIMM, but choose Kingston FURY for any DDR5 or new build.
